NICE has launched a public consultation on proposals for changes to the processes it uses to develop its guidance on medicines, medical devices, diagnostics and digital health technologies.
This consultation is the third in a series of consultations on proposals for changes to the methods and processes NICE uses to produce its guidance on health technologies – part of the largest review ever undertaken by NICE.
The public consultation is open until Tuesday, 15 April. The objectives are:
- Create a simplified single process for all technology evaluations.
- Ensure NICE has the flexibility to evaluate new and emerging health technologies.
- Ensure NICE can provide early access to promising technologies
- Share NICE's vision for Highly Specialized Technologies evaluation and the technologies that are appropriate to be evaluated in that programme.
The consultation is aimed at maintaining and improving upon key objectives regarding quality, dependability, speed, flexibility and cost.
